Exemplar Employers
Exemplar employers are organisations and businesses that develop policies that cover more than just making their premises smokefree.
They write policies that include extra sections on:
- How to protect staff who work in people’s homes, like community nurses or financial advisors
- Providing support to stop smoking for employees
- Smoking at conferences or work-based festive celebrations
- Smoking around the entrances to their premises
Many organisations in Bristol have produced new smokefree policies in response to the Smokefree Bristol Alliance initiative. At the forefront of these are the Public Services.
They have large and varied workforces so their smoking policies have to take account of the many places that their workers have to go to. They also provide support to stop for their workers who want to quit smoking.
